D'oh! Homer is an exciting crisis committee based on the popular TV show The Simpsons. This committee places delegates into the town council of Springfield following a major nuclear meltdown caused by, of course, our good friend Homer. Each character will be taken directly from the show, granting them a unique personality and resources. Throughout the committee, delegates are expected to solve a myriad of issues: not only is Springfield lacking power, but Homer is still on the loose (probably eating donuts somewhere). There are also, of course, potential health issues that come from such a meltdown.
Delegates will be encouraged to pursue debate in this town-council simulation. Each character has a unique interest given by their relation to Homer, and the Chair and CD expect to see this shine during committee in order for debate to remain salient and directives to remain productive. We hope to see creative and unexpected solutions to the issues presented: remember that this committee takes place in the land of the Simpsons. Pretty much anything is possible in this universe!
Mac is a sophomore from Brooklyn, New York studying Economics and International Studies. He joined Emory IRA last year and started Model UN at the same time, where he is also involved in Emory's Model UN mentorship program for high school students in Atlanta. Outside of Model UN he enjoys running, reading, knitting, and of course, watching Homer Simpson cause nuclear meltdowns. While he isn't an extremely dedicated Simpson's fan, he's excited to see how the delegates come up with creative solutions in the boundless world of the Simpsons.
