HELD VIRTUALLY ON FEBRUARY 25-28TH, 2021
In light of the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have had to transfer our conference to an online format. Despite this, we will be working tirelessly to ensure that our delegates receive a similar quality experience to that which they are accustomed to.
Dear Delegates and Advisors,
On behalf of the entire MUNE IX Secretariat, it is my privilege and honor to cordially invite you to the ninth consecutive Model United Nations at Emory conference. Since its first iteration in 2011, MUNE has grown from being a small regional conference to hosting delegates from all over the United States. Our staff strives to provide the best delegate experiences through an innovative collection of committees from historical to fantasy, and everything in between. All our dedicated staff works tirelessly from the beginning of summer to provide an unforgettable experience to all our delegates, as without you, MUNE would never be possible. To do this, we plan to bring you well thought-out committees, engaging and innovative crisis updates, and a backroom structure that brings consistency and quality to the in-room delegate experience.
In pursuit of the best delegate experience possible, we are proud to offer the unique 24-Hour Crisis Committee for the third consecutive year. Our 24-Hour Crisis Committee aims to provide a distinctive committee type and structure, with the hope of giving both experienced and new delegates alike a new challenge with which to hone their skills in debate and diplomacy.
Whilst it is unfortuntate that our conference will not be held in person this year, we cannot ignore the inspiration our city is to us! As home to the largest airline and busiest international airport in the world, Atlanta undoubtedly occupies an important role on the international stage. As we firmly believe in peaceful diplomacy and positive change for the future, it is fitting that our conference is based in such an internationally connected city. As college undergraduates, we represent the next generation of leaders and innovators, and the world we stand to inherit demands nothing but the best from all of us. With the committees and delegate experiences we provide, we aim to impart the ideals of peace, cooperation, and community in the united hope for a better future upon our delegates and staff. At MUNE, these principles are at our core, and it is these ideals which we strive to empower with the growth of our conference.
Without a doubt, 2020 has provided us with a new set of challenges to overcome, from the 2020 U.S. presidential election to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, there exists need for unity, cooperation, and understanding. Whilst it is our goal to provide the best delegate experience possible, it is our mission to ensure the safety and security of all participating delegates. As a result, we will be hosting our conference online this year. Despite the unfortunate nature of the times we live in, we will strive to provide the best experience possible! Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that - even though our conference is online this year - our delegates recieve an experinece that is on-par with that to which they have become accustomed.
For any additional information, please feel free to explore our website. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the MUNE IX secretariat directly at mune.secretariat@gmail.com. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you all on February 25th, 2021!
Sincerely,
Matthew Berman.

SECRETARY GENERAL: MATTHEW BERMAN
Emory University
Class of 2022
Model United Nations at Emory IX is the ninth consecutive conference held by the International Relations Association at Emory University. In recent years, we have been known for providing delegates with unique and interesting challenges in our committees, and this year will be no different! Join Emory University in February for MUNE IX!
Our secretariat and staffers build upon years of experience with every successive conference and relentlessly strive to ensure each MUNE is better than the last. We take delegate feedback seriously and actively seek the input of our delegates in the continued growth and development of our conference.
Since our debut conference in 2011, MUNE has grown from a small regional conference to hosting delegates from all over the United States. We pride ourselves on our belief in the importance of the delegate experience above all else. With this, we work to ensure that the open debate of contemporary issues is as engaging and inclusive as possible.
Model United Nations at Emory is proud to offer the 24-Hour Crisis committee. Here, delegates are challenged to demonstrate ability in both debate and cunning as they are tasked to work together in addressing rapidly changing and evolving crisis scenarios with frequent and engaging updates.
Our mission is to provide our delegates with the best delegate experience possible. We seek to impart upon both new and veteran delegates alike a Model United Nations experience that is engaging, unique, and keeps delegates coming back!
As the leaders of tomorrow, we are obligated to adopt a perspective of the world that is inclusive, understanding, and progressive. As the future is in our hands, we must educate ourselves of the world of today so that we make the world of tomorrow a better one. We believe that open debate is a crucial part of this process, and thus hope to promote progressive and innovative thinking in our conference.
With the conference held virtually, we have updated our schedule to improve the delegate experience and mitigate the taxing nature of long committee sessions.
