It is June 23rd, 2016, and the British public has narrowly voted to leave the European Union through a nationwide referendum. Months of campaigning from all corners of British society resulted in a political decision which will be felt for years to come. Uncertainty plagued Britain's future as politicians sought to navigate this unorthodox and complicated matter. The European Union likewise scrambled to begin talks with the UK, trying to negotiate a deal that would avoid isolating the UK from the rest of Europe, or worse, encourage other countries to follow in the UK's footsteps. Brexit had huge implications not only on UK-EU relations but also on the UK's domestic policy. The future of Britain's global reputation, trade, economy, and very existence was brought into question by one single referendum. Delegates will be given the opportunity to not only shape the UK's politics at home, but also its position in the global context. From deciding the terms of Brexit, to when it would come into effect, delegates will be met with what can only be described as a "proper mess!"

Beyond his involvement with the Model UN travel team, he also loves hiking, exploring nature, and keeping up with the news! One of the main motivations for doing this committee was allowing delegates to delve into a political topic outside of the United States and explore the complex yet fascinating nature of the Brexit Referendum. He is also excited to see delegates get creative with arcs and draw on niche and intriguing pieces of history.
