Braden Newsome (He/Him) is a second year at Emory University studying History and Political Science. He's always been a geek for American political history, and that’s exactly why he is doing this committee! Crisis committees are all about achieving a greater goal while pursuing your personal motives, and there's no better place to do that than in a presidential campaign riddled with scandal!
Elizabeth Brubaker (she/her), is a third-year student at Emory, double majoring in Political Science and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. After serving as a crisis director and chair at Emory MUN Conferences and leading the Oxford branch of the Emory Model UN Team, she is excited to apply her experience to a committee based on one of the most iconic (and unhinged) campaigns of modern times. Besides engaging in the world of politics, she loves checking out thrift stores, blasting Stevie Wonder, and eating an unhealthy amount of pho.
The 1992 presidential election is one of the most fascinating in modern American history. It is one of the only modern elections that had a strong third party presence who was facing off between an unpopular incumbent during a recession and a Democratic challenger with scandals that never seemed to end. By playing as prominent Democrats and strategists, both within and outside of the Clinton/Gore presidential campaign, delegates will have the opportunity to face many crises the Clinton campaign faced (and maybe some new ones), and eventually win the White House back for the Democratic Party!
